Founded 2010: I started making purses in 2009 and found I have a real passion working with leather and creating decorative jewelry embellishments. I continue to learn more techniques and develop better ways of making unique products. In February 2010, I decided to take the next step and start the business. Materials: I am often asked where I find my leather. It began with the designer leather swatches my sister gave me to use. Recognizing the need to find more sources, I responded to an ad for leather. It turned out to be a designer shoe company with single boots and shoes - last year's sample models. I found that boots can become purses given the right amount of time and elbow grease. These boots gave me the extra push to further explore my creativity and get serious about starting a business. I continue to search for just the right remnants; most of which is found through interior designers and other leather providers.
LJ Designs: The name is multi-faceted as it stems from several things: a love of Leather & Jewels - a classic combination - and it also represents me and my sister, Jenny. Since she got me started in this, it made sense that the name be reflective of that shared common bond. We collaborate on many of the designs you see here.
